The 2018 best player with 23 goals in Cameroons local league with Louvres Minprof, has expressed her dissatisfaction after she was left out in Spain in a final list of 23 players selected by Coach Alain Djeumfa Defranse on Friday May 24, 2019. In a Telephone interview with CNA, the hard trick scorer in the COSAFA competition said the Coach told her that she had put on weight. She adds that she doesn’t know if the decision was based on her Anglophone origin because since 2015, she has always helped in qualifying her team while other players take her position.
She told CNA’s Nfor Hanson Nchanji on phone that she was initially called up for the training session currently ongoing in Spain, Europe but was surprised when Friday May 24, 2019, the head coach released the names of final 23 who will take part in the Female World Cup billed for France this June, sidelining her from the completion.
“The Coach told me that I had put on weight. I do not understand what he meant by that. He called me six days earlier and only noticed that I had put on weight during training session. I believe that before you are called up for training, the coach must have been following you up.” She lamented.
Meanwhile Mpeh Bissong is not in her first disappointment since she started with the national colors. “I keep on hearing such excuses since 2015. I helped to qualify the cadet in 2015 and they said I was too old, in 2018 I helped to qualify my team for the African Women Cup of Nations, AWCON in Ghana, and was told that I was still too young , that there are many competitions ahead of me. I do not understand why all these are happening to me, I do not know whether it is because I am an Anglophone. I am really tired of this and I do not think I will honor any other call again.” She said.
Gaelle Enganamouit, one-time prolific player with the Lionesses, who has been injured for three years counting and has had difficulties in getting new clubs due to injury, was retained. CNA was gathered that Ngono Mani and Ngo Mbeleck are both injured but have been called up for the competition.
The 20-year-old Mpeh Bissong said throughout their training session in Spain, she scored a goal in a gala match in the presence of the so-called professionals but has been paid with a sacking order. “The Coach also told me that he was under pressure,” She added.
