The trial of the Congolese warlord Ntabo Ntaberi Cheka is underway in Goma, a provincial capital in the restive eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The trial has started on 24 November this year and is conducted by an operational military court.
Cheka has been leading the Nduma Defense of Congo, or NDC, one of the armed groups attacking villages in the North Kivu province of the DRC, mostly in Walikale territory.
Cheka surrendered to the UN peacekeepers (MONUSCO) on 26 July 2017. MONUSCO handed over him to the Congolese authorities for trial- MONUSCO
