The Chinese community in Seattle, Washington, took time from Lunar New Year celebrations to mark the 1886 Seattle riot when angry mobs started to forcibly expel the majority of the Chinese population from the city. The lessons learned from that tragedy, according to the organizers of a commemoration march, are still relevant today.
