Four men were arrested by the authorities on suspicion of violent robberies, on the 8th and 9th of March, in the parishes of Alvalade and Avenidas Novas, in Lisbon, Portugal.
“After collection, treatment and criminal analysis, two of the four arrests were made during the past Monday, targeting a pair of suspects who had been working in the Alvalade and Avenidas Novas area since the beginning of the year, focusing on distribution messengers, expropriating them from the monetary gimmicks collected during their work, it was possible to indict suspects for the practice of four crimes of this nature, including two situations in which the threat of a bladed weapon was resorted to and in one of them the victim of a bladed assault.
After a series of steps to collect evidence, it was possible to attribute these facts to two suspects, ensuring their detention outside the act, by issuing the respective warrants by the Criminal Police Authority.
The detainees, even at a young age, aged 16 and 18 but already with a criminal record for the practice of crimes against property and against public authority, were present at the Judicial Court of the District of Lisbon, for 1st judicial interrogation, having applied the coercion measure of weekly presentations.
During the 9th of March, and following several robberies that occurred in the Parque das Nações area during the last two months, aiming at the appropriation of money and mobile phones, normally practiced with the use of bladed weapons, an investigative effort was carried out that culminated with the identification of two suspects, promoting, in parallel, the evidence collection process that came to demonstrate their participation in at least two of the registered thefts.
They then came to be located and detained outside the act of committing an offense, also through warrants issued by the Criminal Police Authority” announced the Public Security Police.
In the group of four men from 16 to 33 years old, only two of the oldest have a criminal record and according to the agents in their register, convictions arise and even with the execution of prison sentences despite being suspended, for the practice of “crimes” of robbery and qualified theft”. In addition to these actions and in the course of them there is the “use of lethal objects”.
Once the facts were verified, the offenders were presented to the Judicial Court of the District of Lisbon for a first interrogation and at the end of which the group was assigned the “most severe coercive measure of preventive detention”.
