  • Globally, populist and nationalist leaders passed draconian laws to punish journalists under the guise of "fake news" or "not in the national interest."
  • False or misleading informations are spread by organizations posing as legitimate media outlets in an attempt to twist public opinion in favor of a certain ideology.
  • On social media,watch out for fake messages and news.
  • Check Google Images for Authenticity. The Google Reverse Images search can helps you.
  • It Would Be Better to Ignore Social Media Messages that are forwarded from Unknown or Little-Known Sources.
  • It is a horrible crime to post obscene, morphed images of women on social media networks, sometimes even in pornographic websites, as retaliation.
  • If a fake message asks you to share something, you can quickly recognize it as fake messege.
  • Always Check Independent Fact Checking Sites if You Have Some Doubts About the Authenticity of Any Information or Picture or video.

Beware of Cyber Stakers

Posting morphed obscene photographs of females on social media sometimes in porn sites for revenge is  a heinous crime.Sometime, perpetrators create fake account on face book to defame their victims and post morphed pictures to blackmail them.

So be careful about these cyber starkers. Avoid sending explicit pictures to any unknown persons and and while choosing profile pictures on Whats App one should be careful enough and think twice before they share  any picture with whats app groups or facebook.Pedophiles are also active in cyber space and online child sexual abuse image is quite common. They use the same photo shopped method.

Sometime out of revenge, these perpetrators post morphed pictures of their estranged girl friend or wife to social media sites or porn websites to defame them. There are several incidents where victims committed sucide after their morphed pictures appeared on social media. So in these type of cases without any hesitation, lodge a complain to the cyber crime cell of the nearest police station ignoring social stigma.

According 66A of the IT Act(India),2000

(a) any information that is grossly offensive or has menacing character(

b) any information which he knows to be false, but for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, obstruction, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred or ill will, persistently by making use of such computer resource or a communication device

(c) any electronic mail or electronic mail message for the purpose of causing annoyance or inconvenience or to deceive or to mislead the addressee or recipient about the origin of such messages, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and with fine.

Similar to Section 66A, there are several related sections available in Indian Penal Code( IPC) such as Section 153, Section 509.
