In a Road Accident, Threatened Swedish Artist Died
Lars Vilks, a Swedish artist who had been living under police protection since his 2007 sketch of the Prophet Muhammad with a dog’s body drew death threats, died Sunday in a road accident, according to Swedish news agencies.
According to news reports, the accident involved a truck colliding with a civilian police car, which was carrying Lars Vilks and his security.
Vilks, 75, was travelling in the automobile with two police officers, according to the Swedish news agency TT. The artist’s partner confirmed his death to the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.Police investigating the cause of death.
