If you think that to silence women online, threating them with rape and violence is the best way, think again. It’s a punishable offence. Racial and sexual abuse against women online are the most favorite past times for a section of men. But be cautious. A year ago, Zane Alchin a labourer from Australia pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to menace, harass, or cause offence, was convicted and given a 12-month good behaviour bond in the Downing Centre Local Court. In other parts of the world including India there are several instances where online stalkers got exemplary puniahment.
This type of behaviour is unacceptable in law. Harassing women online is not only a punishable offence but we should remember that freedom of expression does not give us the permission to abuse others. So women should speak out loud about these type of cyber stalking and immediately lodge complaint to the police. But it is the fact that tackling abusing languages online an upheaval task for socialnetworking sites.
